Due to the resounding success of our first Symposium we’re planning an encore. The global economy continues to pose many challenges, whether in Europe, the Americas, Australia or elsewhere. However, challenging times also create opportunities. Once again, our goal is to bring together all interested parties to share ideas and knowledge to help us as an industry address challenges and leverage opportunities. We can all benefit from the breadth of knowledge that we have individually developed by sharing with one another. We welcome participation from all aspects of the supply chain including chemical companies, tanneries, franchisors, and, of course, technicians.
If you are new to this business, then you can learn from those who have been where you are, survived and thrived.
If you’re an experienced and successful leather tech, then you know there is always more to learn.
If you are higher up in the supply chain, then you can learn from leather restoration specialists what products they need, or how your current products are used in ways that you may have not have imagined.
Whether you are working in the automotive, furniture, marine or aircraft sector(s), there will be kernels of wisdom to improve your skills at both symposium focus levels, technical and business.
Come join us in sharing ideas. We the people of this industry will come away with a new sense of community, a web of connections, and an understanding of resources that we all can use to improve our professional qualifications and our workmanship.
We'd like to extend a special invitation to our international counterparts. Perhaps the evolution of our trade across the world will have established itself differently in different countries. We'd love to see those differences explored. We know it's a long way to travel, but hope that anyone interested would be able to participate.
Symposium Agenda Focus
Primary Focus - In depth and detailed participant-driven discussion on technical topics relevant to leather repair and restoration.
Secondary Focus - Participant-driven discussions on the business side of leather repair and restoration.
As the general consensus from participants so far is oriented toward technical, the agenda will have the technical topics as the preeminent focus. The business discussions can be had held on an ad hoc basis, or as driven by participant interest. Please note that we are continuing to seek comments and proposed topics, so the proposed agenda will be subject to major revision until the actual Symposium date. Keep checking back for changes. Please use the Symposium Interest Questionnaire to suggest topics for discussion.
